Angus & Julia Stone-For You

Since we started this month with love-songs. Angus & Julia Stone, can only be a good choice. If not an incredibly awesome choice. We have posted in the past, songs from both of them spesifcally Angus' "Monsters" has been our very first post on LOMW. The siblings come from Australia. They are now working solo but their album as a duo "Down The Way" won the ARIA award for Best Album in 2010 among other awards. "For You" is a song about giving everything you have to the one you love the most. Enjoy this wonderful live performance in Paris. Angus & Julia Stone-For You

If I talk real slowly
If I try real hard
To make my point dear,
That you have my heart.
Here I go

I'll tell you,
what you already know.
Here I go.
I'll tell you,
what you already know.

If you love me, with all of your heart.
If you love me, I'll make you a star in my universe.
you'll never have to go to work.
you'll spend everyday, shining your light my way.

If I talk real slowly
If I hold your hand
If you look real closely my love,
you might understand.
Here I go

I'll tell you,
what you already know.
Here I go.
I'll tell you,
what you already know.

If you love me, with all that you are.
If you love me I'll make you a star in my universe
you'll never have to go to work.
you'll spend everyday, shining your light my way.

Here I go

I'll tell you,
what you already know.
Here I go.
I'll tell you,
what you already know.

If you love me, with all of your heart.
If you love me, I'll make you a star in my universe.
you'll never have to go to work.
you'll spend everyday, shining your light my way.

Christina Perri-Arms

Christina Perri, is an american songwriter, singer and musician. She is only 27 but the charts have put her already in the top positions. Her album "Head or Heart" will be out in April 2014 but we chose to post an oldie from her last album "Jar of Hearts". The song proves what we said about Perri's skills in songwriting and performing. The music video of "Arms"  has something dreamy and you are going to love it! Enjoy and like our official facebook page: www.facebook.com/lyricsonmywall

Christina Perri-Arms

I never thought that
You would be the one to hold my heart
But you came around
And you knocked me off the ground from the start

You put your arms around me
And I believe that it's easier for you to let me go
You put your arms around me and I'm home

How many times will let you me change my mind and turn around
I can't decide if I'll let you save my life or if I'll drown

I hope that you see right through my walls
I hope that you catch me, 'cause I'm already falling
I'll never let a love get so close
You put your arms around me and I'm home

The world is coming down on me
And I can't find a reason to be loved
I never wanna leave you
But I can't make you bleed if I'm alone

You put your arms around me
And I believe that it's easier for you to let me go

I hope that you see right through my walls
I hope that you catch me, 'cause I'm already falling
I'll never let a love get so close
You put your arms around me and I'm home

I tried my best to never let you in to see the truth
And I've never opened up
I've never truly loved 'till you put your arms around me
And I believe that it's easier for you to let me go

I hope that you see right through my walls
I hope that you catch me, 'cause I'm already falling
I'll never let a love get so close
You put your arms around me and I'm home

You put your arms around me and I'm home

Hey Ocean!-If I Were A Ship

My wonderful music lovers!
We are back with a new song from the cute indie band from Canada, Hey Ocean! The band was formed in 2005 and their last album "IS" has every reason to make you want it! Very cool music, wonderful lyrics and the melodic voice of Ashleigh Ball. "If I Were A Ship" is the song we decided to post today on LOMW. Because after all February is known for the Valentine's Day and this song is only for lovers!

Hey Ocean!-If I Were A Ship

If I were a ship,
I'd sail to your shore.
Just to see my true love
The one I adore.
I would part all these provinces
In my paper boat.
And I'd kiss you and kiss you and kiss you
'Til we both just float.

If I were a bird
I'd sing out your name.
Parched high up on my branch
And I'd hope that you came.
I would spread both my wings
And I'd take to the sky.
I would bear all the wind and the rain
Just to be by your side.

If I were a song
I'd be in just the right key.
I'd be all the best instruments
In sweet harmony.
Oh I'd play oh so loudly,
In hopes that you heard.
Because music is love
In search of the words.
Yes, music is love
In search of the words.

Interview: Filipe C.

You know what they say about music and how it puts you in a travel-machine! Well this is how I met Filipe C. A talented man from Brazil. His cover for “Nightcall” was the reason to find him on YouTube. He said YES, so here we are for another long-distance Q&A.

LOMW: Welcome on LOMW, Filipe C. First of all tell us from where exactly are you answering this Q&A?
FILIPE C.: I’m  from São Paulo, the biggest city in South America and maybe one of the craziest places I’ve ever been.

LOMW: You are coming from Sao Paulo, Brazil. How is it to grow up there? What is the most beautiful thing you remember from your childhood there?
FILIPE C.: I think that grow up here is pretty much like grow in any other big city in the world. There are buildings, cars and people everywhere you look…the traffic is terrible, people are always on a hurry  “to get things done”. They worry about making money to buy more and more stuffs to show everybody they have money. Of course life here is not only like this, but most of people live this way.
But, despite all these things happening around me, I had a happy childhood. Maybe the most beautiful thing was to grow up with my best friends. We met at 5 or 6 years old, sharing all the experiences…from school breaks to problems to paying bills. We’re all around 28 nowadays, and we’re still keeping touch, living here, getting together to talk about life.
Living in a city that forces you to have such a cold relation with every thing around you all the time, turn this kind of long time friendship even more rare and beautiful.

LOMW: About your steps in music now! I’ve read that your Silence EP met great success in Brazil. How do you feel after the whole recognition?
FILIPE C.: Is always good when people like things you do from your heart!
I made the EP because I “needed” to do it, somehow. Music became my favorite way to say what I’m feeling and thinking, and when I wrote “Silence” I was passing through a complicated time in my life. I tried to turn all those strange days into the best thing I could.

LOMW: Your EP is full self-produced. What are the difficulties that an artist faces when he works like that?
FILIPE C.: Probably the hardiest part when you work with something creative all by yourself , is knowing if what you’re doing is going to the right place. When you work all alone, you lose the outside perspective you have when you’re working with somebody else, like a band or even a producer.
The way I found is show what I’m doing, the song being done, for some of my musicians friends. I show them, we talk a little and they bring me a new view from my own music.

LOMW: Your official website is not in English and it doesn’t even have the option to change it in English. Why is that happening?
FILIPE C.: My fault!
English option is coming soon!

LOMW: Independent Vs Record Labels. Which and why?
FILIPE C.: I’d prefer the creative freedom of an Independent with the support of a Major! A mix of them would be great.

LOMW: Now, I’d like to ask your opinion about the protests in Brazil. Why they have happened and did this situation influence you as an artist?
FILIPE C.: Well, this subject is a little complicated but I’m going to try to tell you the fastest version!
Everything started when the mayor of Sao Paulo announced an increase of 20 cents in bus fare ( almost every year we have this kind of increase, by the way ). The public transportation here is not good at all and yet we have one the most expensive fares of Brazil. There are around 12 millions people living only in the city of Sao Paulo, and most of them live far from their jobs, on the poorer zone of the city, working 10, 12 hours a day, and using bus with their main transport. The increase of 20 cents a day would be hard to pay to these people. So the protests have began. It started with 1.000 people, then 3.000, 5.000, 20.000 till it comes to millions, not only in Sao Paulo, but cities around the country, where this kind of situation happened.
The mayors gave away the increases, keeping the fare prices, but people were expressing their discontent with politicians, government, abusive laws, police violence, and everything else...people were tired to just watch and complain.
We have a very young democracy here in Brazil, and i don't know what is going to happen next, but, somehow, people went to street to say out loud what they want and what they don't.
We’ve learned that government need to fear people, not people fear the government.

LOMW: Before we finish this long distance Q&A, let us know your future plans! And how do you imagine yourself after 20-30 years?
FILIPE C.: I'm planning to release a new EP in the next year. I have some new songs I'm working and making some more. Probably it will sound a bit different of Silence; less layers and more intimist, but I'll keep the melancholy atmosphere.
I want to release a clip, also! I don't have an official one yet...
And about how i see my self in 30 years...that's a hard question for an anxious guy! I really don't know, but I'm trying to live my life doing what i love, with people i love around me, and trying to find the perfect place on earth to live with the being of my life, Gabi.
Maybe it's not that simple, but I've already found the road.

LOMW: It was my pleasure to have you on LOMW, Filipe C. I wish you a lifetime of happiness and success. May all your dreams come true.  We are ready to share anything new from you and we will be happy to have you back again!
FILIPE C.: Thanks for inviting me to this Q&A! I've enjoyed a lot.

Heartless Bastards-Parted Ways

Yes! My laptop came back safe and sound! I am going to post an incredible interview as promised, but before that I have to tell you about this band. "Heartless Bastards" is a garage-rock band from Ohio. You could compare them to The Black Keys because of the bluee-rock style. Errika was the founder of the band back in 2003 and she is the main vocalist. She found the name of the band while watching a trivial game. They became very famous and right now they are on tour in USA. The song we are about to present is "Parted Ways". You will find the idea of the music video weird, but be 100% sure that the music, the lyrics and Errika's voice are going to thrill you. Heartless Bastards-Parted Ways

And the wind it tore through the atmosphere
And the air it filled with dust
Searching for a connection within every direction
Some places I've already been
And oh, with lost love and loneliness, so many things have changed

And oh, I just don't look at things the same way now
Since we parted ways
Out in the space, I'm a long way from home
The hum of the wheels, they are carrying me on
To a wide open space to breathe in, oh
I need a wide open place to breathe in, oh

And the sun went down in this little ghost town
Near the valley of the Rio Grande
I need a little bit of whiskey and a little bit of time
To ease my troubled mind

And oh, with lost love and loneliness, so many things have changed
And oh, I just don't look at things the same way now
Since we parted ways

Out in the space, I'm a long way from home
The hum of the wheels, they are carrying me on
To a wide open space to breathe in, oh
On to a wide open space to breathe in, oh

Out in the space I'm a long way from home
The hum of the wheels they are carrying me on
To a wide open space to breathe in
Oh on to a wide open space to breathe in, oh
On to a wide space to breathe in, oh
On to a wide open space to breathe in, oh

Gonna get on out
Just gonna get it out
Now if I want to be free, I'm gonna run
Takes a lot, oh so much of my energy
I'm going around and I have found
In order to live in this great big town,
Takes a lot, take a lot, takes a lot, takes a lot

Saint Raymond-Fall At Your Feet

Do you see this guy? He comes from Nottingham and his completely independent debut EP came out on 5th of January. He is only 19 and his real name is Callum Burrows. His stage bandname is Saint Raymond and he is already the opening support act of HAIM. We should better remember his name, because he is going to make it to the top pretty soon! His style is indie-folk and his song "Fall At Your Feet" is a hymn about men trying to satisfy women! Enjoy it on LOMW.

Saint Raymond-Fall At Your Feet

Stop stop go,
If I can make can I keep myself whole,
Am I wasting time on my own,
Woah oh oh
On my own

How do I start,
Tripping over my head and my heart,
Don't think I'll be the last,
Woah oh oh
No oh oh,
Why should I care at all

Watch me fall at your feet,
Give it all to make you feel complete,
But who am I trying to be,
Who am I trying to please,

You can have it woah oh oh,
You can have it oh oh oh,
You can have it woah oh oh,
You can have it oh oh oh,

Have I got that much to give,
Maybe I'm losing and trying to resist,
Should I just go with it,
Woah oh oh
Go oh oh
Why should I care at all,

Watch me fall at your feet,
Give it all to make you feel complete,
But who am I trying to be,
Who am I trying to please,

You can have it woah oh oh,
You can have it oh oh oh,
You can have it woah oh oh,
You can have it oh oh oh,

Have it oh,

Round and round we just keep going
Back and forth this tide keeps flowing,
Round and round we just keep going
Back and forth this tide keeps flowing

You can have it woah oh oh,
You can have it oh oh oh,
You can have it woah oh oh,
You can have it oh oh oh,

Watch me fall at your feet,
You can have it woah oh oh,
But who am I trying to be,
You can have it oh oh oh,
Watch me fall at your feet,
You can have it woah oh oh,
But who am I trying to be,
You can have it oh oh oh,

Round and round we just keep going
Back and forth this tide keeps flowing,
Round and round we just keep going
Back and forth this tide keeps flowing

Eliza And The Bear-It Gets Cold

I haven't posted for so long that I got crazy without LOMW. Since the last time, many things have happened! Christmas, New Year, I travelled in Istanbul and I discovered new music from around the world! I missed you, all the music-lovers and today I'm coming back with a whole new band! Eliza and the Bear have been only formed back in 2011. They are from London and their album is very promising. They have what every indie band should have: Joyful music and great lyrics. Their brand new single "It Gets Cold" got published on 5th of January and here you can watch it and read the lyrics! From the bottom of my heart, I wish to each of you happy and melodic 2014! Enjoy the good music on LOMW and like our official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/lyricsonmywall

Eliza And The Bear-It Gets Cold

I've been wearing these clothes on my back since I grew old
When outside my window lay thousands of stones
I can't take any one of the home 'cause I got to leave this all behind
I've been walking the floors of this house, its secret call
The creaking doors, the windows and walls
And I can't swim through river's flow 'cause I got too much water to fight

IT GETS COLD in the night
I'm on my way, I'm on my way back home
IT GETS COLD in the night
I'm on my way, I'm on my way back home
To the places I already know

When I crashed out my boat and it sank into the sea
The waters filled it, they surrounded me
I'm spinning in circles and I can't see 'cause my God, it gets cold tonight

IT GETS COLD in the night
I'm on my way, I'm on my way back home
IT GETS COLD in the night
I'm on my way, I'm on my way back home
To the places I already know

My God, it gets cold in the night
I kept walking till I found some light
My God, it gets cold in the night
I kept walking till I found some light

My God, it gets cold in the night
I kept walking till I found some light
